Social Media Network – A Basic Introduction

Social media network is a relatively new concept and only began to grow in use around the
year 2006. Social media networks include such venues as Facebook and MySpace as well as
several other public blogs. Social media networks are an enjoyable way to spend time and can
help you to connect to long lost friends.

Registration Required

In order to participate in most social media networks, you will have to sign up for the site.
Most sign ups are free and will ask a few things about you including your age and e-mail
address. You will choose a user name. Some sites require you name to be your actual name
while others will allow you to use an alias.

The sites will then allow you to read people’s posts and then make your own comments on what
is being said. There are often opportunities to add your photographs or video recordings to
the site.

Viral Posting

One thing you should be aware of is that if you make a comment on a friend’s post, that
comment can be seen on the posts of all of their friends as well as all of the friends of
other people that make a comment on the same post. Additionally, if you make a post, your
post can be seen by the friends of all persons that make a comment on your post.

Because of this type connection, social media is a very powerful tool. You can post a message
that may be seen by thousands of people. This can be good or bad. If you are careful in what
you say, you can build a good reputation for yourself and may find many followers. However,
if you are not careful, then you may find that former friends block you from posting comments
on their posts. You can not only make friends quickly, you can also lose them just as
quickly.

Marketing Tool

Many network marketers are using social media networks to build a following. When done
properly, the marketers will build a friendship and develop trust with followers on their
site. Once again, if you use the media carefully, you can develop loyal friends that will
want to see those opportunities you are offering. If you rush into using social media for
network marketing, you will be seen as just another spammer.

Obey The Social Conventions

You may find that you violate the rules and conventions of the social media network and you are blocked from
accessing their website.
