Is it unbelievable to imagine that there are networking sites for your cute little pets? Yes, you heard it all right, catster and dogster are such superior sites just for this sake. The founders of the site have a very clear vision of what the folks want who love their pets and are so crazy about them that they pay a lumpsum amount to this website just to get loads of info on Pet care, create profiles for their beloved animal friends and to showcase them for adoption facilities.

Catster and Dogster are essentially the same site and a person can log in to them with the same membership. Well, we are talking about Dogster.com that is an online social networking site for dog owners and lovers. Dogster.com was founded in August 2004 by computer geeks and dog lovers Ted Rheingold, John Vars and Steven Reading.

The site is rich with community features like profiles, groups, forums, and messaging. The staff creates content and communities, which is aided by blogs, answers, videos, and guides. There are also resources for animal adoption and service listings broken down by location.  The listings include everything from animal friendly hotels to pet sitters all with ratings and reviews. You can easily shop any dog products through the site.

The information available in the site is too good but the layout doesn’t really fit the demands of the kind of people join in and is at times cluttered. The front page is jammed packed with too many features and promotions. But there is a convenient top menu bar shown on all pages of the site, as well as a left-hand menu pane shown on the left side of most pages.

It features such as Dog of the Day and Dog of the Week, and sponsors various contests and opinion polls. The site also hosts videos of dogs, a listing of dogs available for adoption, Diaries (blogs about dogs), and the Dogster Store, which features products of interest to pet owners. The site can be searched for dog profiles locally which returns results by zip code. The site currently contains millions of photos and members.

The basic membership offered in the site is free. The site offers a premium membership, known as DogsterPlus, which allows access to advanced features of the site including the ability to upload more photos and a members-only forum.
